Lucas Hot Rod & Classic Car Motor Oil SAE 20W-50 is manufactured with the highest quality paraffinic base oils and is fortified with a unique additive package containing high levels of zinc, molybdenum and phosphorus, which provides a tougher, thicker additive film for maximum protection even under the most severe conditions. It lowers oil temperatures, extends oil life and minimizes metal fatigue. It improves the film strength between the cylinder wall and piston rings and slows oil burning and improves pressure in worn engines. It has good cold temperature properties and stands up to high operating temperatures. It is compatible with methanol and all racing fuels, as well as with synthetic and non-synthetic oils.

I just wanted to take my time to write you a short testimonial about my experience with Lucus Oil products. Hopefully you will be able to use it to help others learn about the product.

The story goes like this, I recently purchased a 1980 Chevy Citation 2door 6 cyl. For those of you with a confused look on your face the Citation was one of GM’s first attempts at a FWD car…. It didn’t go well let’s just put it that way. Anyway, I bought the car for fun really since it’s old and a 2 door and cool, I think. This car came from Arizona but you can’t tell because of the rust. It needed and exhaust and fresh gas and fired up. When it did start it sure did not run very well at all, It had been sitting for over a year( 2 winters in Ohio). So I did a tune-up. It ran better but really had hesitation issues and NO power. So I started putting “treatments” in the tank from the gas station. I started with STP. I used the carb cleaner, the octane boost, the fuel injector cleaner and I think the fuel additive stuff. Each was used in it’s own 10gal tank of gas. I did not notice a bit of difference. So I went with Seafoam for at 2 or 3 tanks and I noticed minor improvement in idling and performance but the power was still very lacking. So I called a mechanic or two. All of which suggested everything from an “intensive carb cleaning - $150.00” to a “Complete rebuild - $400+. All of them wanted $70 or more to even look at it and stab at the problem again.

So… frustrated, I went back to Advanced Auto again to stare at the wall of products for a solution. As I stoof dazed and confused at the wall of stuff the clerk asked me if I had ever tried Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube. I did know about Lucas “OIL” products but I didn’t realize they made that type of product as well. She said “Well, It is on special right now…” So I said “What the heck. I’ve tried everything else ! “ I purchased the small bottle, 3-4oz I think, and went outside and poured it in the tank before I left. I was a little caught off guard by how thick the product was. All the rest I used were thin like gasoline. Well, Here comes the magic part, I ran the car that evening for about 30 minutes or so and did not notice a difference, However, when I came out in the morning and started the car it fired up especially fast and idled perfectly like a new car. I was amazed. I took off out of my drive way and it still sputtered a little and hesitated but had substantially more power. By the time I drove out the less than 10 gals of gas that was in the tank when I put Lucas in the car there was almost no hesitation and I assume as much power as I can expect out of a 30+yr old 6cyl. I have since ran about 3 more tanks of gas through, Lucas in every tank. The car runs great and fires right up EVERY time. To be honest I am not sure it even needed the over $150 tune up I did to it. After I had such great success with the UCL, I figured I would try the trans fix stuff next since the trans was shifting, no slamming, into gear. I poured about 6ounces into the trans, god knows how old the fluid was that was in it, but I didn’t change it YET. Wouldn’t you know, within about 100 miles of driving the shifting smoothed out tremendously. I can say it is shifting now instead of slamming. I am going to change the fluid and filter only because I don’t know how old it is. But you can bet I will put Lucas back instead of a quart of trans fluid.

            Due to how well the products performed in the Citation I decided to try them in my 93 GMC Yukon since I was getting some hesitation, lack of power and rough idle out of it as well. I used the UCL(upper Cylinder Lube) in the tank about 9 ounces for 24gals. More than recommended but I figured it couldn’t hurt and it sure didn’t. That truck runs like the day it came of the showroom floor now. TONS of power compared to before Lucas. It has a nice throaty sound when accelerating like it should and idles so smooth you can’t hardly tell it’s running. Keep in mind this is after I spent over $400 on parts for a tune up and sensors trying to smooth it out. I had an occasional hard shift in the Yukon too, so in went about 3-4ounces on trans fix stuff and you would not believe the difference. I didn’t know it was that bad until I put the Lucas in. I noticed a small bit of seepage coming from the power steering lines when I was under the hood putting in the lucas. It appeared to have been leaking for a while. I checked on what it would cost for new lines, $60 - $80 each, plus labor. Since my new thing was Lucas I saw they had power steering stop leak…. Sooo…. In went only about 2-3 ounces because my pump was not empty. Within about a week, no more leak and guess what, power steering was much easier to turn. It stopped the leak and seems to have made the pump work better.

            I guess my point is that I spent over $1000 repairing/bandaging up these vehicles and all I really needed was less than $30 worth of Lucas products !!!!!!!! I now carry a large bottle of UCL in the car at all times. I use a few ounce squeezed out of the bottle at EVERY fillup. I drive both vehicles regularly and they still run great and I have not had to do any other repairs since adding the Lucas, well to any of the components that I put Lucas in, You don’t make “brake master cylinder magic” do you ?
