LGM National Championship Round 6 - Kimbolton

uk-007-inaFantastic performance by Lucas Oil driver Albert Carter over the weekend at the 6th round of the LGM National Championships at Kimbolton in Cambridgeshire, this round saw 58 Drivers turn up including drivers from Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands and Canada.

The last round - round 5 Buckmore Park - saw Albert involved in a crash on the first lap and the tough young racer have to work his way right from the back and try and salvage some points, so he was determined to get back where he belongs at this next round. Carter was focused and worked hard Saturday giving good feedback to his Dad Andy Carter and Jamie Allen of Zip and with great mechanicing by Josh Fry by the 4th session he was on pace.It was full grids in all heats just the way Carter likes it and he was itching and fired up to get out there. Heat 1. A good drive and Albert finished 4th but a trip to the Clerks office saw him get a 5 place penalty for aggressive driving, Albert came out and said they have made me more determined.Heat 2. And he really showed his drive and hunger making up 21 places to finish a fantastic 3rd putting in quicker lap times than the winner even though coming through traffic. Heat 3. Another great drive, keeping out of trouble in a rough heat and making up 16 places, to finish a solid 6th.The MSA points were tallied and Carter was on P7 for the final, a good place to start. After a fantastic 5 miniute briefing from GT Racer Luke Hines, Carter got settled into his Kart nice and early. The Final 15 mins plus 1 lapIt was a scrappy first 3 laps for Albert unusually putting the Kart in the wrong place and losing a few places but then we saw him settle and as usual he started to go forward with some great overtaking moves that saw him get back to 9th but just hanging on there as it looked like he had slight under steer on the fast corners. With 2 laps to go Wood started defending the pace slowed a bit and it became a 9 kart battle for the win. On to the last lap it was still anybody´s race, but Wilson was leading and 3 kart lengths clear of the next 8 that were all together. Going into the last corner Albert did a fantastic move and went up the inside of 3 to put himself 4th and he followed Lewis Thompson across the line to finish a well-deserved 4th.Well done to Teddy Wilson, Tom Wood and Lewis Thompson.Another nail in the coffin to all the Carter haters out there! The tougher it is the more we love it! Well done to all the people that run LGM and Kimbolton for another fantastic race meeting.Thank you to Lucas Oil US and Lucas Oil UK and the following associate sponsors for making all this possible; Hol tAj Yuasa - www.yuasa,com Rainbow Conference Sets CAAR - www.caarparts.co.uk VEIDEC - www.veidecracing.com Teng Tools - www.iqsupplies.com Kaz Aston.com - www.kazaston.com NGK Spark Plugs - www.ngkntk.co.uk Pioneer Central - www.pioneerprint.co.uk Ogden Motorsport - www.ogdenracing.com Ultimate Air Brush - www.ultimate-airbrush.co.uk 3tc graphic and web design - www.3tcreative.comCottingham Engineering - www.cottinghamengineering.co.ukThanks and mentions must also go to everyone at Zip Kart, Gran Prix Racewear, Josh Fry, Roger and Wilco at RPM and Chris Walker of www.kartpix.net and all the people that are giving Albert support, help and advice, it is appreciated.
