Countdown to Another Lucas Oil Land Speed Record

Llangefni, Wales (12th June, 2019) –

Last year, a top speed of 265.626mph was achieved in this 1927 Team 7707 Salt Shaker Model T dragster, which retains the original tin bodywork.

The refit will increase safety levels, add power and boost the chances of breaking 300 mph this time around. The record was set last year despite a fire-damaged second run which almost led to more serious problems.

A reinforced driver cell is among a number of safety changes, but the switch to a BAE Block with proper fuel cylinder heads and twin mag set-up that uses 16 spark plugs rather than 8 and a ‘billet’ 14/71 supercharger - double the previous size - are significant engine developments.

The Team has an extensive network of supporters who will help the team reach its goal this year, so Lucas Oil extends a big thank you to them all.

Lucas Oil is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of oils, workshop lubricants and problem-solving additives. The Lucas Oil shield is associated with almost every kind of motorsport. It can be seen at events around the world, from grass roots Moto X to track racing motorcycles, cars, dragsters and monster truck.
